FAQ

Why do you want to homeschool?
First, it is something that has been prayed about and as a family we believe this will be the best for our children at this present time.  Second, there aren't many options for us in the school system where we live.  Third, my children are already ahead academically then other children their age.  Lastly, we believe that our children would be better suited to be academically challanged at home where we understand how they learn best.

What about socialization?
Our children are not hermits.  They spend many hours a week with other children through church, playgroups, playdates, sports and  everyday interactions.

How did you know where to begin to start homeschooling?
First, we started with prayer then after that I asked other homeschooling moms and dads, and did research about curriculum, laws, etc.  HSLDA was a wealth of information.

How can you deal with your children all day long?
You just deal. Have activities, field trips, etc.

Do you ever leave the house or have friends?
Unfortunately I have to laugh at this one.  Yes, I leave the house and yes I have friends.  When homeschooling you have to network.  Other women have a wealth of information.  I belong to PWOC where I meet with women for two hours a week, I go to church, bible studies, hanging out with my friends and so much more then I can list.  Networking helps to create a support group and also helps provide added interaction for our children.

How did you come up with a name for your school?
I had not thought of a name until I was doing research about homeschooling and realized that many people do name their 'schools'.  Then I thought about it, what is something that would encompass what and why I am homeschooling my children and it came to me.  Pathfinders, which I helped derive from Proverbs 4:11-12.  Out of that came the rest of what you might or should read that is on this blog.  Before I can begin homeschooling I thought it best to truly sit down and think about what my responsibilities are, goals, aspirations, etc of homeschooling my children.  It has now blossomed into what you see now.

If you have any other questions about why I homeschool or anything along those lines please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them and if I might not be able to answer your question I can at least point you in the right direction or ask one my seasoned homeschool moms/friends.
